Compliments are due!
The caption on both reads: "Growing Old Isn't For
Sissies." (a Betty Davis quote)
These magnets are now front and center on our fridge.
My husband and I often look at them and say---that's our goal!
This weekend we were at our local gym and my husband had just finished his work out. I looked at him and smiled.
He said, "What?"
I said..."Wow, you look better than a refrigerator magnet!"
We both started laughing.
What a compliment huh?
Of course--this has now become one of our favorite catch phrases.
Just a note on the male magnet.
I called the company that sells them.
The story goes--this man died two years ago...he was in his 90's and he was nearly as buff as when he was in his 70's.
His family and friends wanted to pay him a tribute at his funeral.
They bought enough magnets to cover his metal coffin.
After the funeral each friend got to take one off the coffin to keep in his memory.
I guess the moral of this little story is---live strong and
leave a lasting memory.
And if you have the determination....work hard enough to look
better than a refrigerator magnet!

I'm not looking for any of them magnets ... But one of the coolest compliments I ever received was to open an e-mail from a total stranger only to learn that they had 'cut & pasted' one of my BFL posts (an inspirational quote of some kind) and then had slipped it into a magnet-frame for their refrigerator ... It's humbling to learn that one can have such a positive influence on another human being ... This is sort of like the fine print one finds on many college degree certificates where "so-and-so is awarded the master of ___ degree with all the rights, honors, priveleges, and responsibilities confered thereof."
As a BFL Champion, Michelle, what do you think of the rights, honors, and responsibilities you have to the community? I'm curious to learn of your thoughts on this topic ... Take care, champ!
