I'm at an age when many women believe their best years are behind them. I hope to convince my "Sisters" that many more of those "best years" are waitng to be lived! I'm living proof it is never to late to live them. Not to long ago I weighed nearly 200 pounds and was being treated for a long list of obesity related medical problems. Thankfully there came a point in my life when I decided to keep my self promises. When I did...my life opened to a world of possibilities.

Acting your way to better thinking....

On today's BFL guestbook, one of my favorite BFL'ers, Mike Harris responds to one of our friends who is struggling to get back on track:

Maegan, you will need to act your way to better thinking, instead of trying to think your way into better actions. You know what to do--so do it--and then youll want to. Right now, youre trying to tell yourself you want to, but youve got to tell yourself to do it--whether self wants to or not! Then, the better attitude and dedication will follow. Good luck all! ....Mike Harris

I can't agree more.
When I first started the Body for Life program I didn't know what to do. But I do know how to "act" like I do. I've spent my life...faking it until I could make it. The BFL book shows us what we need to do. I read it and then started acting it out each day. Soon I was thinking better and success followed.
Thanks again Mike. During this, my ultimate challenge I am acting real hard and telling myself to just do it!

Now on to yet another thinkin' large and reachin' for the stars goal.
During the next 12 weeks I will schedule and keep all of those medical check-ups and tests that come with being a woman and a person over the age of 50. Many I have put off....because they aren't too pleasant. It's simply a matter of taking great care of this BODY FOR LIFE. If you are due for your physical, chest x-ray, mammogram, pap, colonoscopy...etc. pledge today to set up that appointment and follow through. You are worth it!

Note to self: Write another email to Oprah requesting an hour long program focusing on the BFL program and its remarkable success stories from around the world. (See my June 1 blog about this International Grassroots effort. If you agree, please take time today to email her too.)

Have a great BFL day and remember what Mike Harris suggests. If you are struggling "Act your way to better thinking!"
Your BFL buddy,
Michelle

Day 4 of my Ultimate BFL Challenge.

That's right...I have begun another one. Some of you may be wondering why another one? Isn't she already a BFL Champion? Well for me I need these challenges to maintain my new Lifestyle. For years I'd practiced Michelle's lifestyle program and all that got me was fat, unhappy and sick. BFL taught me there was another way and it literally gave me my life back!

Every once in awhile I find myself falling back to Michelle's old eat anything and "sloth" out until you drop routine. It may be for only a day or two....but long enough to gain a pound or two and start feeling those bad old feelings about myself.
In his June 1 blog, Marc Bennett focused on "Habit." Its a very powerful message. Please read it if you haven't.

I am so tired of my old habits returning to playing over and over like a broken record. If you are too young to remember songs on black plastic discs playing on a hi-fi...think about how those old CD players would skip...and how that would drive you crazy while trying to listen to your favorite song. Those old records are nearly obsolete and now adays a lot of people are upgrading to those cutting edge MP3 Players.

The BFL program is also cutting edge! For me each challenge helps me upgrade my life.

Here is another one of my thinkin' large and reachin' for the stars goals for this, Michelle's Ultimate Challenge:
I will inspire and share the EAS/BFL Lifestyle with 12 people over the next 12 weeks.

PS--I outlined my first fantastic goal in my June 1 blog. It involves the BFL program and the Oprah show. But I need your help! Please go back and read it and join our International grassroots effort.
To be continued....

PPS--here is the link to Oprah. Please ask her to have a full hour show about Body For Life!

Reaching for the stars and thinking large....

I am working hard setting my goals for this, my Ultimate 12 Week BFL Challenge. Today is day 3!
This time around I am reaching for the stars and thinking large.

My most fantastic goal involves Oprah. Many of you have probably seen some of our Champions on her program in recent years. The most recent to appear was Kelly Adair on a program focusing on transformations. During that program, for various reasons Kelly wasn't allowed to mention the Body For Life program.

My goal is to change that, with a little help from my BFL friends.
( before unveiling my goal I have a bit of a disclaimer here folks...this is my idea. nobody suggested this...I take full responsibility for this idea...good or bad!)
Wouldn't it be amazing if we could mount a successful grassroots campaign to convince Oprah's producers to have a BFL Show. A full hour focusing on this remarkable program and the transformations we see happen on a daily basis?

It is my dream to fill her audience with BFL'ers. Fill her interview guest panel with the EAS Lifetime achievement Candidates listed here on the BFL website. To educate hundreds of thousands of viewers about the sustainability of this program.
Could you imagine highlighting their Before, After and After photos and have each of them talk about how their lives have changed? How their lives grow richer everyday?

Topics? Support systems, resistance training, proper nutrition and supplimentation? Spiritual. mental and physical growth? The many payoffs of living our lives and working out bodies in the way they were intended?
(Frankly a week of shows wouldn't be enough to share the magic of this program...but I'd be happy with just one show.)

If I were a producer I would do what ever it took to put together such a powerful show.

Now--if you think this is a worthwhile project... here is where you, my BFL Buddies come in. If each and everyone of us newbies and long time BFL'er wrote letters, sent tapes, and signed onto her website each day for the next 12 weeks and asked for a show focusing on the BFL program...its possible one of those producers might want to run with this idea. I know we could fill the audience. I know we could convince our Life time achievement winners to be there...

So what do you think? Would you be willing to sign on during the next 80 days and mount a campaign to convince Oprah's producers to dedicate a show to this program that has changed so many of our lives?

Remarkible BFL'er...

There are so many I have met during these past two years or so learning the Body For Life Lifestyle. One of my favorites is Kelly Adair.

I first met Kelly during an EAS Energy Camp in Golden, Colorado. She is patient, giving and inspiring...the perfect package for a Lifetime Achievement Award Winner.
The second time I got to meet Kelly was during Jerry Braam's 2005 Champions for Life Cruise.
The cruise itself was jammed packed with events to do and over a hundred people to meet. Kelly was up to the challenge and more. She made a point to talk with everyone...offering up encouragement and kind words. Heck she even found time to write to you in her blog while we were at sea! Talk about dedication!!
She is a dynamo!

During the Captain's dinner she made a point to come and talk with me. I was so honored!
One thing she said has stuck with me...every day since.
She said, "Michelle, you got to put yourself out there!"

Now a lot of people don't know I am a shy person. They never figure that someone whose on TV every night could be shy. I confess I have a hard time...talking to new people. When things get really bad...I stutter. Thank goodness I've been on radio and television for the past 28 years. During that time I've grown comfortable in my job. Could you imagine if I weren't? I'd never be able to read a script!

Anyway, I've been thinking about what Kelly said. Yes I do need to put myself out there more. I need to try new things and break out of my comfort zone! This week I am putting together a new set of goals and dreams for Michelle's Ultimate BFL challenge which I began Monday. This time I am going to be outrageous! I am going to reach for the stars....and I am going to put myself out there!

I'm confident I can do just that...thanks to Kelly. My hope is that one day you too will get to meet her. She is a true BFL Star, shining bright enough for all of us to follow in her light!
